DES MOINES—New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson had a plea for the powers that be in Iowa's Democratic Party, which has yet to decide on a date for its caucuses.
"As a candidate, I wish you guys would make up your mind," Richardson told reporters outside the Polk County Democrats' fall dinner at the Iowa State Fairgrounds.
Iowa Republicans have set Jan. 3 for the GOP caucuses, but Iowa Democrats have not decided whether to join in that date, set their caucuses a few days later on Jan. 5, or stick to the original Jan. 14 caucus date.
"I'll be here. I'll campaign throughout the holidays," Richardson said. "I'll respect Iowans. If they don't want to see us, they'll send a message and I won't show up Christmas Day or Thanksgiving Day. But at the outskirts of those days, we got to be here, especially if the caucus is early January."
Richardson noted that Friday marked his visit to the 80th of Iowa's 99 counties
"I've gone to counties where there are no people," he joked.

All these states, scrambling to have early primaries to enhance their 'relevance' run the risk of making themselves irrelevant instead. It's a typically American urge to ignore the yin-yang of anything, including politics.
'Ya see! Ya take a 8 lb sledge hammer, ya see! An ya drive square peg into a round hole, ya see!'
If you are too early, who cares?
Actually, I hope Iowa and NH move into December 07, then everyone can ignore them and concentrate on the 'relevant' primaries in the states that keep their elections in March, April and May 08.

I guess he has nothing better to do since he can't divert Midwest water to his state.

Nobody seems to care about this.
I think it's important.
I heard the other day some important legislation could not be passed this year because 'it's an election year.'
So sad. America the clueless loses it's government of the people,,etc.
We need to somehow, some way, scare the living bejeezus out of all our politicians, military leaders, etc. They need to learn to fear us.
They no longer fear us. They look upon us as drones, consumers, clueless proles.
Get a spine America. Don't be 'good Germans'.
