Wedding bells will ring at the Prairie Chapel Ranch outside of Crawford, Texas, today, as a first twin, Jenna Bush, marries Henry Hager, son of a Virginia Republican.
"Please excuse me if I'm a little sleepy,'' the father of the bride, the president of the United States, has been seen joking. "A 3 am the phone rang.... The wedding planner.''
"I've got a lot of on my mind, by the way,'' Bush also has been heard to say, "getting ready to walk down the aisle.''
The aisle will be behind closed doors, at the Bush family ranch -- unlike the last White House wedding in 1971, a Rose Garden affair for the Nixons.
"I wanted to have something private -- something that fits my personality a little more,'' Jenna Bush has said. Her sister, Barbara, will serve as bride's maid.
The couple met around the White House. Henry Hager, son of a Virginia Republican who has run the state party and served in the Bush administration, worked in the political shop at the White House. The couple plans to settle in Baltimore.

good for w...so happy he will be able to walk his first born walk down the wedding aisle...he's lucky compared to the thousands of other parents that walked their child down the funeral aisle due to his "dumb war" congratualtions W!!!! way to go!!!!

How nice to see a famous young couple who have their heads on straight and their priorities in order with a wedding suited to them and not a Hollywood extravaganza. Best wishes to them both. (And that 3 a.m. call comment by President Bush was hilarious).

End the War!
Or Draft Jenna and her Newlywed hubbie!

Mimi,
How many parents walked down "the funeral aisle" to attend the war of FDR (WW2), Truman (Korea) and JFK/LBJ (VietNam)?
As always, good to hear from John "Big Oil" Chuckman.
Golden Oldie,
Ironic that there is no draft. Wasn't the ending of the draft a big fight of Obama's most famous fundraiser - Bill Ayers?
Can't anyone be happy for a young couple on their wedding day?

I hope her day is a special one and that she is blessed with a long and happy marriage. Meanwhile, I reflect with sandness over the number of men and women her age and with dreams and aspirations whch will never ever be realized, because of her father and his war. There will be no wedding cake for those young people, only sorrow.

Mimi,
Our young men/women join the military because they want to and with full knowledge that they may be called to war. Many have joined since the Iraq war knowing that's where they would end up. Many actually want to go there. You can't blame the president. You just plain don't like him and that is why you are so negative. By the way, more babies have been killed by abortion than all lives lost in all the wars the U.S. has fought since the Revolutionary War. Unlike our military men/women, those babies had no choice.
Congrats to Jenna and Henry!

I sometimes think Mark writes this stuff just so we can see the idiocy from those on the Left.
John Chuckman, barf??? For you, Chuckman, it's all hate, all the time. In fact, isn't hate a prerequisite to being a Lefty Loon?

Ridiculous comment, John D, although of course not at all out of the usual for you.
You don't write a posting without calling other posters names. If this site had a sophisticated search function, your record of thuggish name-calling would, if called up, be embarrassing, perhaps even to you.
Indeed, you do little else. I'd be stumped to think of a factual or analytical contribution you've made that's worth the reading.
Barf is just the right reaction to this kind of propaganda nonsense.

John "Oil Man" Chuckman,
If "barf" is the "right reaction to this kind of propaganda nonsense", then we should be seeing your phrase "barf" on 90% of the articles in the SWAMP.

Factual and analytical contribution:
Barf is just the right reaction to this kind of propaganda nonsense.
Yes, he prompted his daughter to sacrifice and marry. He then put names in a hat of her closest male confidants and picked a suitor to quickly plan a weeding before he leaves office because his ratings need improvement. The public seeing the marriage will now greatly approve of his office time. When they marry in Canada, leaders to peasants, they never let anyone know because marriage is just propaganda, marriage is just nonsense. I don't think they even wear wedding rings, they just rap giant white scarfs around their neck smoking unlit cigars in houses with no light so no one stands out at any time for fear of being nonsensical propagandists typing away things like this:
Today the bloodiest, most oppressive nation on earth is the United States, without question.
If you're going to protest, protest against the people who've bombed millions to the grave in recent decades.

Ironic that there is no draft.
Posted by: Terry | May 10, 2008 1:24 PM
I'd say so, if the Repukes had a sense of irony. No there is no draft so that you can spit out this favorite talking point...They volunteered so they're asking for it. That also goes along with the very calculated decision to not allow pictures of flag covered caskets to be shown. Who says all of the lessons of Viet Nam were not learned.
This way the college Republicans and their parents can feel extremely ballsy while hiding their complete lack of guts.
