CHARLESTON, W.Va.-Here's an interesting passage from the speech Barack Obama gave today on helping America's veterans.
Some of the most inspiring are those you meet at places like Walter Reed Army Medical Center. They're young men and women who may have lost a limb or even their ability to take care of themselves, but they will never lose the pride they feel for their country. They're not interested in self-pity, but yearn to move forward with their lives. And it's this classically American optimism that makes you realize the quality of person we have serving in the United States Armed Forces.
This, after all, is what led them to wear the uniform in the first place - their unwavering belief in the idea of America. The idea that no matter where you come from, or what you look like, or who your parents are, this is the place where anything is possible; where anyone can make it; where we look out for each other, and take care of each other; where we rise and fall as one nation - as one people.
This earned him his most sustained applause of the address, culminating in a standing ovation. And it makes one wonder that when Obama was talking about "no matter where you come from, or what you look like, or who your parents are, this is a place where anything is possible" whether he was including himself in that lot, with a shot at those who have questioned whether a man of his diverse heritage can be considered a true patriot.

Obviously! If Clinton had said this the media and Clinton haters would be all over it exagerating the meaning so why not the same treatment for Obama.

Thanks, Senator Obama, for remembering the forgotten or out of sight, by the design of the Bush/Cheney Regime!! You have proven your patriotism, time and time again !!! You have done our Country and our Party proud. Our veterans deserved better treatment than they received at the inept hands of this present Republican Regime!! You will be fresh air when you start residing in our White House in 2009, after that pair of Ineptitudes are gone!!
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS, BRING THEM HOME, ALIVE. NOW.

Platitudes and pablum that don't address the real needs of our wounded heroes. James Oliphant would eat the normal non-substance of the Obamessiah up.

Barack is a glaring hack of good men. He would lose our position in the Global Arena. Obama brings to mind a lazy jackal out in the wild. His wife is also not first lady potential. A rabid Tasmanian Devil is what his wife brings to mind. Her atrocious Thesis at Princeton is an insult to academics everywhere. They are very poor images of the US.

Now--imagine if you were to QUOTE HILLARY verbatim in the same fawning fashion that you quote Obama?
Note the difference, Jim---you quote Hillary--paraphrase, really--and surround it with SARCASM that's not dripping--it's like a firehose.
This is the media unfairness which people will write about--sooner than you think.

The fact that Al Gore and Yasser Arafat have won the Nobel Peace Prize and this angel hasn't should tell you how little that award is worth anymore.

This from the man who thinks flag pins are real issues. Of course it would be in the blogs, but in the real world they would be laughed at.

So why isn't anyone calling him on the carpet for saying how he has toured to at least 57 STATES? If McCain has said that, the media would have called him senile...if it would have been Bush, you would have called him a dufus, but now your guy says that, you don't say anything? PLEASE write something worthy to read.

mark,
WOW! I just can't follow your brand of Republican logic. Last week you folks said we shouldn't vote for Obama because he's an elitist and this week you people say we shouldn't vote for Obama because he mistakenly said the US has 57 states?
Seriously, my head is spinning, before that you told us he was a secret Muslim and then you said we shouldn't vote for him because he's not the right kind of Christian. I just don't get you people.

I was thinking about this bitter comment that people are still hammering Obama on....why is it that when Senator Clinton made those comments to ABC about hard-working Americans, white Americans, and wrote those off as a poor choice of words it was accepted as such. However, when Senator Obama used "bitter" instead of "angry/frustrated" and "cling" instead of "rely on", Senator Clinton pounced on them and labeled him as an elitist. Senator Obama's poor choice of words no more make him an elitist who looks down on small-town people than Senator Clinton's make her a racist who looks down on African Americans?? Both their RECORDS indicate clearly the opposite of elite (Obama) and racist (Clinton) right?

I get them - they are REPUGNICANS. They are stuck in the past with the Clintons. They have no idea how or why the mighty Clintons are falling and they are still doing and saying the same things because they are HELPING her.
Mark/McSAME...now pay attention meatheads - you're saying the same thing that she said!

If you take time to look at the pictures of Obama and McCain you will see only 8 of John and 100? of Obama. The 2nd picture of John is when the Enemy picked Him up after His plane was shot down in Nam. Obama was still playing in the sand. Barack doesn't look like He was ever a poor person, so how can He know what it's like. In 8 or 12 years maybe Obama but how can you Vote for Him today?

This comment is going towards Logic Prisoner and Don Fitzgerald. Both of you say that you are for obama becuase he is bringing the troops home. Wrong, all he is going to do is relocate them to Afghanistan and Pakistan, which is where we should have been all along
