As Sen. Hillary Clinton prepares to join forces with Sen. Barack Obama this week in his bid for the White House -- appearing with her fundraisers at his fundraising event on Thursday night, and making a public appearance with him in Unity, N.H., on Friday -- the senator from New York returned today to her day job.

Don Frederick at Top of the Ticket notes that Clinton ended a two-week respite following her loss to Obama in the Democratic primaries, after almost 18 months of being preoccupied with her own quest for the White House.

A crowd was on hand for her arrival on Capitol Hill. Not a large one -- perhaps 100 or so -- according to the L.A. Times' Noam Levey, on the scene. And while some were supporters, a few were interns who had been told by supervisors to line the steps.

The receiving committee and attendant tourists "combined to give the defeated candidate a warm welcome,'' Frederick writes, "cheering and waving as she made her way into her workplace. 'We missed you,' shouted one woman.''

"And Clinton -- dressed in a bright turquoise suit much like the one she wore on the last day of the primary season on June 3 -- looked upbeat as she paused to shake hands. She made a point of asking some of the younger onlookers where they were from and thanking them for coming out to see her. She then disappeared inside the edifice, where she joined her Democratic colleagues for their weekly policy lunch in the Lyndon Baynes Johnson room outside the Senate chamber.''

B. Hussein Obama -- - An empty suit with big ears.

Hillary will be a great asset in our struggle to take back America from the George Bush's and John McSAME's.

So, does her pay get docked for the time she wasn't perferming her senator job ?

Yes, Citizen, we'll dock her pay for not "perferming" as long as we dock Obama's while we're at it.

Man, there isn't an article written about HRC that is able to resist the misogynistic urge to attack her. (Really, the interns only lined up because they were told to?)

Democrats want HRC, Americans want her to be the Dem nominee...all we have to do is convince the ignorant leaders of the Democratic [sic] Party to nominate HRC at the convention and Hope will be restored. No inexperienced, foolish candidates for President when we are at war, when our economy is tanking, and when health insurance is the next thing to undermine the survival of the poor. Sen. Obama will NOT be elected if he is nominated...

Let's see...Lunch, or a vote on the housing crisis? Lunch or Vote? Lunch? Vote?

Lunch wins!! So much for those hard working Americans we heard so much about.

hawkeye57,

You debate champion you! Or as we say here in Chicago, in the game without a mitt.

Hey Citizen, I would like to point out to you that
1) McCain has missed 255 of 450 votes cast in the Senate since January including every vote this year.

2) Obama has missed about 40 percent, or 170 votes
and
3) Clinton has missed 24 percent, or 108 votes
So you do the math and get back to me on who is really working hard for the people and getting paid to do their job!! Whether you like HRC or not the bottom line is she is the only one who actually cares!

If you are going to dock her and Obama, you may as well dock the lot of them including the president and vice-president. They all are constantly on the campaign trail using our planes and other resources like their blackberrys. Just ask Karl Rove.
